What would be expected of me if I participate?

You will meet with a physician who is participating in this study. Your first visit is called a “screening visit”. During this visit the study doctor will perform assessments to determine whether or not you meet specific criteria needed to participate. If you qualify to participate, you will be randomly assigned to receive either active study medication or an inactive pill, called a placebo. You will be expected to take the pills you are given for 5 days. You will return to the site during this time for additional tests and assessments. After 5 days, you will enter into the follow-up portion of the study. During this time, you will visit the study site 4 days and 9 days after you completed taking your pills. The study doctor will evaluate how well you are doing.

Participation in this study is voluntary. You can discontinue your participation at any time. You might not receive any benefit from participating in the study. You might experience side effects from the study medication. Your doctor can discuss these with you in detail.
